200 million from Italy for investment in the Western Balkans

Renewed by the Italian government the Facilitated Finance Program for the Western Balkans managed by Simest.Another 200 million is thus available after in little more than a year the previous line of credit of 200 had all been used for the initiatives of Italian entrepreneurs very interested in exploiting this opportunity.

This was decided by the Facilitation Committee of Funds 394/81 and 295/73 chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and the Conference of Regions, The credit line had been launched at the instigation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani at the Trieste Conference in January 2023.

This Program allows financing at particularly concessional rates (currently 0.5%), with non-repayable installments of 10% and exemption of the submission of guarantees. The credit allocated is intended to incentivize those initiatives useful for facilitating market entry in Balkan countries such as financing start-ups and covering costs for certifications required to export products.

"Italy wants to play a leading role in the Balkan region, aiming to establish itself as a barycenter of interchange and cooperation with the countries in the area," said Minister Tajani, adding that "since taking office, our government has placed at the top of the agenda the commitment to work to integrate the regions of the enlarged Mediterranean and Africa into the European economic space. The initiative renewed today goes in this direction."
