An important step forward in relations between Italy and Albania is in the area of security . A Memorandum of Understanding for the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) Bruno Frattasi, and the Director General of the Albanian National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Igli Tafa was signed on September 26, 2024 between the Director General of the Agency. The agreement initiates strategic cooperation between the two countries in the field of cybersecurity.

The collaboration will be developed in a number of key areas, including cyber capacity building, exchange of information, best practices, experiences and procedures in the field of cyber security. It also provides for mutual assistance and support in cyber incident prevention and management, as well as the development and implementation of strategic projects.

"I am very pleased with the agreement signed with the Albanian National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA)," said Director General ACN Frattasi, "as it strengthens bilateral cooperation between our countries in such a crucial area as cybersecurity. Indeed, in a context of increasingly sophisticated and pervasive cyber threats, it is essential that Italy and Albania join forces to improve the security and resilience of our critical infrastructures. Not only will this strengthen the capacity to respond to cyber attacks, but it will also contribute to the stability and security of the Adriatic area, a region of strategic importance to both nations."

An additional aspect of the understanding concerns joint cyber exercise activities, which are critical to improving readiness and response to possible cyber threats, and collaboration in industry oversight and regulation.
The agreement represents a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Italy and Albania, highlighting the importance of international synergy in addressing growing challenges in the field of cybersecurity.

The meeting was attended by Acn Chief of Cabinet Gianluca Ignagni, ACN Chief of Strategy and Cooperation Service Massimo Marotti, ACN Chief of Operations and Cyber Crisis Management Service Gianluca Galasso, NCSA Directorate of Risk and Cybersecurity Measures Control Directorate Saimir Kapllani, NCSA Cybersecurity Analysis Directorate Director Adriano Lleshi, NCSA Incident Monitoring and Response Directorate Director Esmeralda Kazia, and NCSA Cyber Incident Monitoring and Response Chief Klorenta Pashaj.
