Marco Alberti is the new Italian Ambassador to Tirana

Diplomat with extensive international, institutional and also in private companies experience ,Marco Alberti was born in Bukavu (Zaire) on May 25, 1972. After graduating in Law from Bologna in 1996, he entered diplomacy as Legation Secretary. In 2001 he worked in the Special Secretariat of the Undersecretary of State. Second Secretary in Buenos Aires in 2003 the following year he had the functions of First Secretary. 

In 2008 he was Deputy Consul at the Consulate General First Class in New York. Promoted to Legation Counselor.In 2011he was appointed to perform the functions of Head of Office I of the Press and Institutional Communication Service, at MAECI. 

In 2012, he was assigned to ENEL reporting directly to the Director General for the Promotion of the Country System. In 2015, placed out of his position, still at ENEL S.p.A. he was in charge of the Head of the External Relations Office for International Institutional Affairs. Promoted to Embassy Counselor in 2016 five years later, he was assigned to the direct reports of the Director General for Political and Security Affairs.

Prior to becoming ambassador in Tirana, he was since 2021 Ambassador to Nur Sultan and also accredited, with Ambassador credentials, to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. 

His predecessor Fabrizio Bucci, who has held the embassy in Tirana since Jan. 8, 2020, is now ambassador to Berlin.
