Igli Hasani e Arnaldo Lomuti incontro a Roma per legami più stretti tra Italia e Albania

Increasingly close ties between Italy and Albania, and not only at the governmental level but also at the parliamentary level. The bilateral Italy-Albania friendship section of the Inter-Parliamentary Union plays a very active role in consolidating relations between the two countries.

The President of the bilateral section, the deputy Arnaldo Lomuti, met in Rome Igli Hasani, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Albania.

"It was a very positive and constructive meeting. – states Lomuti – in which we discussed the need to further strengthen relations between our two countries and to develop an increasingly concrete agenda for cooperation between our respective Parliaments. In a complex international context, strengthening relations between friendly countries means creating opportunities for cooperation, shared development, stability, and mutual growth. For this reason we will continue to work to consolidate relations between Italy and Albania, promoting new opportunities for dialogue and collaboration between institutions and between our peoples".

The historical, cultural, and human bond, rooted in decades of closeness, friendship, and exchange between our respective communities, is a heritage interwoven with ever-evolving economic, commercial, and social relations.

“The proximity between Italy and Albania – reaches Lomuti – is not only geographical, but represents a heritage of relationships, collaboration, and mutual respect that must continue to grow, also through parliamentary and institutional dialogue”

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Tirana, Igli Hasani, stated that the discussions focused on Albania's progress on its path to the European Union, maintaining the pace of reforms and negotiations, and the strategic importance that the accession of the Western Balkans holds for all of Europe. In this context, cooperation between the parliaments of Albania and Italy is confirmed as a fundamental tool.

One consequence of this meeting was Lomuti's decision to begin preparations for an Italian parliamentary mission to Albania, during which there will be meetings not only with colleagues from the Albanian Parliament, but also with members of the Government, the Italian community, and the business world.
